DEBRA GARDNER HUSSEY,
CHIEF OPERATING OFFICER
Debra brings 25 years of experience in serving seniors who live in independent and assisted living communities, memory care or nursing homes. Her genuine love and respect for seniors continues to inspire her and she feels privileged to work on their behalf.
Debra’s roles in both operations and sales and marketing give her a unique perspective and understanding of how all disciplines contribute to the overall success of communities. Her experience has included SVP of Operations for Benchmark Senior Living, where she was a key member of the leadership team that led the growth of the company to 44 communities in 7 states as well as senior positions as a Regional Director with Greystone Communities, and Regional Director of Operations and Director of Sales & Marketing, Southeastern Division, for Manor Care. Debra's expertise is in the development and mentoring of high performing teams, start-up of new communities, turn-around operations, and product development.
Early in her career, Debra was fortunate to have an amazing mentor who created a collaborative, supportive team environment where each person was a valued contributor. Ever since, she strives to pay it forward by focusing first on people, mentoring many and seeing them progress to senior leadership roles. Even more rewarding are the lifetime relationships that have been developed.
She is a past Board member of Mass ALFA and Executive Roundtable member of ALFA. Debra also served on the Board of the Jericho Road Project for 5 years, most recently as co-chair.
Debra has a BS in Health Care Administration from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, and an MBA from George Washington University. She is a die hard Tar Heel fan!
Debra and her husband Phil have 3 children, Ryan, Carter and Gray. They love to travel, ski, hike, play tennis and spend lots of outdoor time as a family, especially on the lake!
